| Another triathlon done! |
[May. 5th, 2008|03:46 pm] |
 | I raced another triathlon last weekend and I had my best race yet. I felt great all the way through and I was very happy with my times. My swim wasn't the best but it was a rough swim with really aggressive people, so I'm happy with my swim time considering the conditions.| 500 Meter Swim | 15 Mile Bike | 5k Run | | 2:07/100 meters | 21 mph | 7:48 minute/mile |

Some parts of the plastic casing haven't stood up to the test of time as well as other parts. The discoloration makes it look so old. |

| Face book prune time |
[Apr. 24th, 2008|03:01 pm] |
 | So I just went through and did a major cleaning of my Facebook friends. Why? Because I have too many people in there where I don't really care what they're up to on Facebook. Did you make the cut? If you're reading this, then no. Why? Because I can already see what you're up to through LJ, and most likely, EoFF as well. I've decided that I don't need eight different social sites and social networking sites to see what one person is up to. So I limited my Facebook friends to old friends and family since Facebook is the only place where I can see what they're up to.
Ahh, it feels liberating to have done that cleaning. Now I need to go prune my IM friends lists... |

 | Nobody commented on my Earth Dayish entry yesterday. This means that you're all a bunch of dirty commies who hate the environment and that the terrorists have already won.
Shame on you. |

| But I wanna play in the mud, and be a hippie! |
[Apr. 22nd, 2008|04:39 pm] |
 | So I played hippie today and got yet another canvas tote for our groceries. They had a deal going on at our grocery store where if you brought in five plastic bags they would give you a canvas tote for free. I think we have about a dozen canvas totes now, which is cool, but I'm afraid my wife would have had me get 20 of them if we had 100 plastic bags. |

[Apr. 18th, 2008|01:45 pm] |
 | I just got back from running some errands. While I was out, I cruised through the toy section at one of the stores to see what Legos are up to these days. When I walked through the Lego section, what did my two little eyes behold?
 Indiana Jones Legos at lego.com
Yes, you saw right. Indiana Jones Legos. How cool is that? I'm guessing they're being released to coincide with the new movie coming out this summer, but regardless, these kick ass! |

.gif) | After following monkee gurl's trials and tribulations of setting up a new website I've decided I'm motivated to work on my own website (www.figarocastle.com) that's been sitting unattended for a little over a year. I never added any of the new content that appeared in the GBA version, like the new espers, bonus dungeon or character specific equipment. The walkthrough's only about 1/3 done and I also thought it would be cool to build a little character builder app/page where you can see how equiping various weapons, armor and relics changes your stats, elemental susceptibility, etc...
The big questions is, "Where to start?" The only answer I have is after I steam clean the carpet where one of the cats threw up a hairball. :-( |

 | I decided to do something a little different for lunch today and made fish tacos for lunch. It was my first try and I'm pleasantly surprised with how well they've turned out. I sauted some tilapia in olive oil, shredded it and then sprinkled some lime juice over it. Then I made the tacos with the tilapia and pico de gallo, sprinkling some crushed red pepper and cilantro over it all. Quite tastey. :) |

.gif) | I used to always be in a great mood after getting a hair cut. I have thick hair, so getting it cut always feels good. It's cooler(both as in temperature and as in I'm awesome) and knowing that I looked good made for an intoxicating reaction. But for the last few years I haven't felt that way after my haircuts. Until today. Today I was walking on air after my haircut and mentally hi-fiving myself on how awesome I am. It's amazing how the little things put you in a great mood. Not only did I feel good after getting a hair cut, but felt good about feeling good about getting a hair cut. |

| Yada yada yada... |
[Apr. 10th, 2008|10:32 am] |
 | I'm in the mood to write something today, but I don't know what. So I guess I'm just going to ramble in this entry for a bit. I swam 1500 yards this morning. It was my first swim workout since my triathlon a week and a half ago. That was pretty cool. I hopped on EoFF to check how the contest is going. It's going good. I checked out the Eyes on FF does Post Secret or whatever it's called and I was happy and sad from reading the entries. It amazes me how many people live their life in lies or don't fully express themselves. Maybe it's because I'm older now, but I don't bother keeping my feelings hidden that much anymore. I do if it's just an opinion that might hurt someone else, but if I'm in a situation that I don't want to be or feel that I'm doing something just to please someone, I stop it right then and there. You learn that there's no benefit to living life that way and you'll never be happy. You also learn that you can't be everyone's friend and you're going to piss people off eventually. Some of those folks you'll reconcile with and others you'll never be able to stand to be around again. Such is life. So surround yourself with activities, people and situations you enjoy and remove those things that bring you down.
I'm still enjoying the CK contest. It was a little slow waiting for round four and I feel that it sucked some of the energy from the event. Round four's task was great in theory but I don't think it was thought all the way through. I've already said my piece on why I thought it was botched and how to fix it at EoFF, so I'm not going to bother here, since only EoFFers read my journal anyways(or at least I like to pretend that people read this).
I learned how to pill my cat without him resulting in peeing on himself or biting his tongue, so that's awesome. I've seriously never met a cat that was so stupid. I continually attest that he only has enough brain power to run the vitals in his body. But then again that's pretty awesome for him because every day when he wakes up it's a new adventure exploring the "new" house we wakes up in. I'm just glad he remembers where the litterboxes are.
Wow, that was a lot. I know I said that I wouldn't post lengthy entries, but it seemed fitting today. Thanks for humoring this old man's rambling. |

 | Hola, amigos. I know it's been a long time since I rapped at ya, but I been puttin' out fires left and right. First off, the brakes on my Festiva are going soft on me. It's not all the time, and the problem goes away after you pump them a few times, but it's got me all paranoid. I only drive the back roads to get to work, which takes me an extra 20 minutes, because I don't want to smash into some guy and have no way to get around. |
.gif) | Whoa, how'd Jim Anchower hack my account? Seriously, whatever happened to that guy? I miss his editorials. I wish they'd come back.
This weekend my wife and I spent nine hours over Saturday and Sunday doing yard work. I bought 55 bags of mulch for the mulch beds around our house, which took three trips to Home Depot to pick it all up. I'm glad we only have to do this stuff every 1-2 years. |

.gif) | Round two of the EoFF CK contest is much better. I know they needed to see which people were actually interested in competing, but round two's challenge is something I can really sink my teeth into. I'm glad I won immunity, because my entry is a little long-winded. But I think it's worth it. I know I laughed a few times while I was writing it.
p.s. that little kid looks like he's dancing in place rather than walking away. The Hokey-Pokey, perhaps? |

%20-%20Summon.gif) | The cat drama continues...
This morning, my wife and I are trying to give the cat some of his medication, which has been less than easy, and in his frenzy to escape he panics and momentarily loses his bladder control. I can't believe I'm having to deal with this.
What a little butt-nugget... |

[Apr. 3rd, 2008|09:18 am] |
 | The CK contest at EoFF is fun, but there needs to be more drama and interaction. Creating a confessional for round one is boring. I imagine the staff required that for round one so that it would make for a more exciting contest for those that aren't contestants, but it's boring for us contestants. I can't even read anyone else's confessional. Hopefully round two will prove a bit more interactive for the contestants. |

I just realized I always specify any events that happen at EoFF as if anyone that reads this isn't a member of EoFF and has no clue what's going on there. |

 | So I did my EoFF April Fools prank where I messed with the forum colors, produced random popups, switched the header image with other images and played random videos from youtube. The fact that everyone (forum staff included) thought that it was munty made it extra special. Psy and Rye were the only ones that figured out who the real culprit was(as far as I know).
I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I hope some of the others EoFF members did too. |

| Double fired! |
[Mar. 31st, 2008|07:38 am] |
 | We took our cat to the vet because he's had the runs for the last couple of months. Turns out he has some minor parasite in his intestines from eating bugs or god knows what. The vet gave us some pills which will cure him. I don't know if anyone's tried "pilling" a cat before. If you haven't, don't start. My wife's holding him wrapped in a towel like a burrito and I'm trying to cram pills down his throat and coaxing him to swallow. Twenty minuets later we finally got them all down and I have several holes in my finger which is now wrapped in a bandage. Damn cat.
I really should make kitty burgers tonight. |
